Commissioned for a Miami family seeking a private Bahamian retreat from their Coral Gables residence, this Exuma compound is currently in the planning and design phase. The existing property has been weathered by time and the coastal environment, requiring a comprehensive remodel that will restore its character while adapting it for relaxed, multigenerational family living.
The design direction draws from the natural beauty of Exuma through hand-applied cement finishes, organic textures, layered ceiling treatments, deeply grained woods, and durable performance materials suited to a family with young children. Rather than creating a temporary vacation house, the plan establishes a warm and enduring island home designed for privacy, ease, entertaining, and an effortless connection between the interiors and the oceanfront setting.
The Great Room: Vaulted wide-plank timber ceilings and hand-applied sand plaster walls frame sweeping panoramic views of the Exuma coastline, anchored by a monumental, low-slung custom dark wood coffee table and stone washed ivory linen lounge seating.

For this specific Exuma project, the mandate was driven by a vibrant, active lifestyle. With a large family, multiple kids, and beloved dogs, the clients required a welcoming, highly multi-functional compound that effortlessly balances high-end aesthetics with kid- and pet-friendly durability. Every square inch of the main living spaces was masterplanned to accommodate large-scale family entertaining, ensuring adults, children, and their fur babies could move freely and comfortably throughout the pavilions without sacrificing the home's sophisticated design integrity.
In contrast to the high-energy, multi-functional family zones, the clients envisioned their private master suite as an exclusive, darker, romantic bungalow retreat. We executed this vision through our comprehensive interior design solutions, balancing the clean lines of a custom low-profile wood plank platform bed and rich slatted hardwood features with deep, moody organic undertones. To break up the organic coastal textures and inject an old-world soul, we anchored the space with a magnificent antique Persian rug—introducing a layered, highly personalized depth. Through our attentive client service and full-scale home remodeling capabilities, we managed this entire transformation remotely, translating their unique family dynamic and private aesthetic goals into a publication-ready reality.
The Master Suite: A secluded, romantic bungalow retreat featuring a low-profile wood platform bed and hand-applied plaster walls, anchored by a vintage Moroccan rug. The space opens entirely to a private infinity pool that seamlessly merges with the sweeping Exuma ocean horizon.

Grounded by elegant traditional wainscoting and wrapped in tactile, texture-rich paper-weave wallpaper, the room balances shared connection with individual identity. The space features tailored, built-in bookcases packed with each sibling's favorite vacation reads, alongside custom monogrammed pillows that gracefully delineate their personalized sleeping quarters. Beyond the beds, the room flows into an integrated, low-profile art studio, offering a dedicated, mess-friendly creative haven where the sisters can paint, sketch, and capture their island memories.
